About Captain Sean
Captain Sean’s Daytona Beach Fishing Trips

“Perhaps I should not have been a fisherman. But that was the thing that I was born for.”
Earnest Hemingway

Captain Sean Patrick Finucane is a native of Daytona Beach. Fishing has been his passion since childhood. As a boy growing up in Daytona Beach, young Sean and his friends would race on their bicycles after school to the nearest fishing spots to fish from shore before they were old enough to own their own boats.

Captain Sean is a U.S. Coast Guard licensed and insured Master Captain. He holds a 100 Ton Master Captain’s license from the U.S. Coast Guard which qualifies him to captain vessels as large as a tourist ‘head’ boat which often carry as many as 60 or more passenger anglers. He also holds federal waters permits for Snapper/Grouper, Wahoo/Dolphin (mahi-mahi) and South Atlantic Coastal Migratory Pelagic Species. Federal waters begin just 3 nautical miles off the Florida Atlantic Coast so these permits are crucial to fishing legally in federal waters.

Captain Sean has been a full time professional fisherman for over 20 years. He has extensive knowledge of the Daytona Beach area and the migratory habits of the fish that frequent the central Florida coast. He has fished up and down the east coast of the U.S. and throughout the Caribbean, charter fishing as well as fishing numerous tournaments. As well as his many years in the charter fishing industry, Captain Sean is also a full time commercial fisherman. If Captain Sean is not taking a charter, he is most likely fishing commercially on his vessel.

Captain Sean is also a U.S. Army Airborne Infantry Veteran. He was stationed at Ft. Lewis Washington and served in Desert Storm. After returning home, Captain Sean went back to doing what he loved and missed, fishing!

He has fished extensively in the Western Atlantic from the Outer Banks to Mexico! Not long after his military service and returning to charter fishing in the Daytona Beach area, Captain Sean moved to the Outer Banks of North Carolina where he fished out of Oregon Inlet at Oregon Inlet Fishing Center in Nags Head, North Carolina.

He received the trophy from Captain George Locke (and former mayor of South Daytona) standing on the right. Ponce Inlet is just 10 miles from Daytona Beach.

From Oregon Inlet, Captain Sean traveled extensively to as far North as Ocean City, Maryland where he fished the Ocean City White Marlin Open, to as far South as Cancun Mexico and through out the Bahamas and Caribbean. All the while spending his winters in Florida commercial fishing on his boat and spending time with friends and family.

Now Captain Sean has returned to his roots! Captain Sean offers his 20+ years of professional fishing experience to anglers in Daytona Beach who want to experience Florida fishing at its best!
